So the new sensation in the world of the 'www' is Susan Boyle a 47 year old spinster from Scotland. How did she become the new sensation? Well she appeared on the TV show 'Britain's Got Talent' and the reason why she has suddenly been thrust into the limelight is because the minute she walked onto the stage everyone including the judges had already decided that Susan was going to be wasting their time. From the minute she spoke, from how she dressed and from how she looked, yep Susan Boyle was going to be a waste of everyone's time. Then to add insult to injury she declared that perhaps she would like to be as famous as Elaine Page and that the song she had chosen to sing was I Dreamed a Dream ~ Les Miserables. Susan was deliberately set up to be a flop, she was going to be the one that made everyone laugh but it only took a few minutes for her to leave the judges silent and get the audience on their feet clapping and cheering. See it here:- http://tinyurl.com/c49rgl At this point around 25 million people from around the word has logged on to 'Youtube' to see the clip of Susan's audition, even US television networks suddenly cleared their morning schedules so they could have a transatlantic interview with her. However Susan still seems unfazed by it all at the moment and seems quite prepared to just see what happens. What is unclear at the moment is how much of this 'new sensation' is down to Susan's rather non fashion statement, her voice or manipulation from Simon Cowell and some very clever PR. After all, let's be honest with all this worldwide interest you can bet Simon's company, Syco, is going to be involved and with Simon talking about taking Susan onto his mate show in the states (Oprah) it looks like Simon may have struck gold again. From my personal point of view, I'm just a softy at heart, I love it when an underdog comes along and blows everyone out of the water. I'm also not a music expert but I know what I like and I have to say I liked Susan's version of 'I Dreamed a Dream'. I wonder who actually picked the song mind you as if you actually listen to the words there is some resemblance to Susan's actual life which makes things a little more interesting. Susan also sung on a local charity CD in which she sang 'Cry Me A River' which can be found here:- http://tinyurl.com/ca6vpp. We will have to see how things develop but I doubt Susan's life will ever be the same again, not if Simon Cowell has anything to do with it. Let's hope he does the right thing by her and she gets something in life that it seems she so richly deserves.

Last night at around 2045 we had a power cut, "COME ON" I ask you a flipping power cut on a Saturday evening!!!! Mind you I think it kinda showed who was equipped and who wasn't because from what we could see out of the window there was only a couple of houses in the close that had any form of light, the rest remained in obscurity for the hour the electric was deprived in this area. Thank god we were primed and ready with both candles and a battery outside light thingy that we purchased a couple of years ago, mind you I did have to nick the batteries from the camera to power it but that's besides the by. As I said, thankfully it was only off for an hour which meant it was back on in time for Match Of The Day which was a piece of good fortune, the idea of going to bed on a Saturday night without watching that was simply absurd. With no electric it did mean that the family had to be in contact with each other which is never a bad thing and in fact we had quite a laugh ... actually that's inaccurate as Mesee and Ryan had a laugh at my expense. God knows how it started but we ended up seeing who could stretch the furthest which resulted in a mortifying, degrading and crushing defeat for me and Mesee and Ryan practically rolling about the floor laughing at my attempts, god it's not good getting old. Still for one concise hour, the semi shadows brought the family unit together and just proved that yes we can be a family if we really wanted to and that the TV or computers were not the "B" all of everything. This morning I was woken up to the alarm from Mesee's mobile at 0555 to find out we were in the middle (or the beginning) of yet another POWER CUT, WHAT IS GOING ON????? Thank god we had a mobile to wake us up or otherwise we would almost certainly still be fast asleep and Mesee's work wouldn't be able to call her because the normal house phones run off the mains as well. So after washing by candle light we left a little early to see the degree of this power cut and guess what? Yep your right it's only our little area as everywhere else around us is radiating intensely. The good news is, is that Mesee had the prudence to call work before leaving and get them to put the kettle on so she could fill a flask for me meaning I could have a cup of coffee when I got back. Which of course is where I am now, back at home and principally bored off my tits. "What the hell am I gonna do?" I asked myself repetitively while banging my head against the wall. No TV, no music, no internet, no main computer system so therefore no games to play. Hah !! The laptop to the rescue, I shall be liberated after all. Only that's not as grand as it sounds because it's not powerful enough to play 'Call Of Duty' or anything like that, which all in all, is the main reason why I am writing this. So turn this on and it's telling me I am running this using the "HIGH PERFROMANCE" setting, so I quickly changed that to the 'Power Saver' to try and conserve the battery and give me longer on here. Mind you these things do lie to you just for a hoot, I did have two hours of power left now after about 15 minutes it's down to 1hr 21min which all in all means in about 10 mins it will die. I'm just thankful that the mp4 player has some battery life left in it so I can listen to some music as well, which incidentally is playing Bonnie Rait and I Can't Make You Love Me at the moment. So here I am with the main light on (or off) in the living room waiting for it to shine brightly to let me know that power has been restored, time to save this I think before it suddenly dies on me as well and all this gets relegated to the memories of time. Also seeing as I only now have 52 minutes left (where did all that time go?) I think I'll go upstairs and lie on the bed and listen to some music and just patiently wait, after all what else have I got to do. (actually it's back on now ...) |

Okay, I'm going to get lambasted for this but here goes. Jade Goody .... Ok it's a sad thing; a death of anyone, especially someone young is not good. The way Jade is taking the news of her impending death needs to be congratulated and commended and I feel sincerely sorry for both her and her boys. If she can prepare a future of some sort for her boys by selling her story before her time is up then good on her. However my main point here is all the tabloid nonsense going on. A few months ago the papers were slagging Jade off with a passion and now they have all changed their tune because it will help to sell papers to have a "heart felt" story splashed all over the paper. Now I'm not a great newspaper reader but where are all the "heart felt" stories of "Mrs Jones" or "Mrs Smith" living down the road in the same situation but who cannot sell their story, who are trying to keep their lives together without all the cash coming through. I know Jade is a "celebrity" and I know people want to know about "celebrity" lives but come on. "Mrs Jones" or "Mrs Smith" will depart this world leaving any children and partner not only devastated about losing someone they love but trying to find the finances to keep a home together. If you're going to bring all this news to the front page bring other stories to the front page as well and show you really care. |

So here I am having a go at this "BLOG" thng and quite frankly I have no idea (a) what the hell I am doing and (b)just why I am doing it ..... whatever that may be. Mind you, I think some of it is due to the fact that I cannot sleep due to heartburn or indigestion. I've just been down to the local Tesco store (thank god that's open 24hrs) to get some more stuff to help cure it and thank god I had my credit card with me. I only went to buy some tablets not the flipping whole store !! I must confess that usually I'll spend a couple of quid on some 'Rennie Soft Chews' which usually do the trick but thought 'Hang on maybe I'll invest in some 'Zantac'" - THREE POUNDS TEN PENCE FOR TWELVE TABLETS - MY GOD. Still Emma had informed me they were the ones to have, "One tablet lasts twelve hours" after all. So I brought some but to be on the safe side brought some of my usual ones as well. Mind you on the plus side besides doing this I am doing the washing as well which is about to finish it's second wash and then there is only one more to go, so that will all be done by morning. A good boy I am. So that's it, my entry I hope to write some more at times whenI can think of something to say, so check back every now and again to see what's what. Catchyer all later. |
